EJ Jones Cropped Headshot.jpg

Hello! My name is EJ Jones.

As the 4th generation operator of Universal, I've grown up in the funeral industry.  Even as a child, I thought the industry missed an opportunity to provide real value to families.  People didn't want what we sold.  They bought it because they felt they had to.

When my great-grandfather started the business, almost everyone was buried in a casket when they passed away.   Today, over 55% of the U.S. chooses cremation over traditional burial.  Why?  For some, the cost of a
casket and cemetery plot is too expensive.  Others feel a desire to do something simple and more personally meaningful.

Whatever your reason for choosing cremation, our team can help you
get the service you want

HOW IT WORKS

With over 75 years of experience, Universal understands what families want: Trust, Value, and Simplicity.

We are not a funeral home and for good reasons.  Funeral homes are expensive, brick-and-mortar facilities found on tree-lined streets on some of the most valuable real estate in the community.  These factors have a significant impact on the price of a funeral.  Along with these costs come additional negative emotional baggage that the facilities place on families. Let's be honest, no one really wants to go into them.  So we came up with a better way.

Today, we work with funeral directors who understand families are seeking different options than they offer.  Universal works with funeral directors so you don't have to.  These directors will take the forms you fill out online and process them with the relevant private and municipal entities required for cremation.  Once we get the documents we need, Universal will perform the cremation and return the cremated remains back to you.  This keeps the price you pay low, without any fear of being upsold something you don't need or want.

Fear has walked hand in hand with the funeral industry for generations.  Those fears have allowed the prices of all funeral services to skyrocket.  We believe that your grief is not an opportunity for excessive profit.  That is why we only work with partners that recognize that we are truly in the most sensitive of service industries.
